Meet Gill and Bouwe Hamersma, the husband-and-wife team behind Driving Miss Daisy Busselton, bringing a wealth of experience, heart, and local knowledge to their work.
With over 15 years’ experience as a case manager in the aged care sector, Gill has long been a passionate advocate for elderly people and people living with disabilities. Her compassion, supportive nature and understanding of individual needs have helped many people live with more confidence and independence. Since moving to the beautiful Margaret River region three years ago, she’s embraced everything the area has to offer and is committed to giving back to the community she now calls home.
Bouwe, who co-manages the business, is a doer by nature and brings strong organisational skills and a practical mindset to the team. When he’s not handling the administrative side of the business, he works as a project manager in the IT industry. He’s also a keen gardener and someone who’s always happy to lend a hand to neighbours and friends. Like Gill, he values connection, community, and doing meaningful work that supports others.
Together, Gill and Bouwe are proud to offer a companion driving service that’s built on trust, respect, and genuine care. Whether it’s helping someone get to an appointment, enjoy a day out, or simply feel more connected to their community, they’re here to make a difference, one trip at a time.
Driving Miss Daisy Busselton are here to help. Our companion driving service is designed to support you, a loved one, or even a friend, offering more than just a lift from A to B.
We don’t just drop you off, we’re with you every step of the way. We can wait during appointments, help with shopping, and make sure you’re safely home and settled. Need a hand finding specials at the supermarket? Want help unpacking groceries? We’re happy to assist. If it’s raining or hot, we’ll greet you at your door, umbrella in hand, and walk you to the car. Because we know that it’s the small things that make a big difference. Our service is built around care, trust, and companionship, to ensure every journey brightens your day.
Your wellbeing is always our top priority, so our drivers are fully vetted and trained. Every driver has a police check, First Aid training, Dementia Awareness and Hidden Disabilities training, a Working with Children Check and Public Liability insurance.
With Driving Miss Daisy Busselton, you can keep doing the things you enjoy. We’re here to help you stay active, social, and independent, on your terms.
Our goal is simple, to make everyday outings easier, safer, and more enjoyable for those who need a little extra support, whether it’s a trip to the shops, a medical appointment, a meal out, or a relaxing drive through the countryside.
We look forward to meeting you and being your family when family can’t be there!™
